About
Rochelle Haley is an artist engaged with painting, choreography and installation to explore dynamic relationships between colour, gesture, light and the ever moving body in built and natural environments. Working with dancers, her painting, installation and performance works discover harmonies between audiences, performers and architectures. Haley is interested in painterly and choreographic modes of composition across disciplines, experimenting with abstraction and light embodying temporality within space.
Haley is a Senior Lecturer at University of New South Wales, School of Art & Design Sydney. Her recent work, A Sun Dance, will make its international premiere at Tate St Ives 21 September 2024. The work premiered at National Gallery of Australia 24 Feb 2024, supported by a Creative Australia Major Commissioning Grant. A Sun Dance is a key case study for the Australian Research Council funded project, Precarious Movements: Choreography and the Museum, testing new approaches to performance preservation with TATE Conservation.
